James Andrew (Jim) Hinton, 76, of Vinton died on Saturday, June 20, 2015. He was raised in Roanoke but called the world his home, working in many different countries throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his father Clarke Stokes Hinton and his mother Virgie Robinson Hinton Lucas. Surviving are his daughter, Lori Pilcher (Mike), son, Bill Hinton, Sr. (Carol); and daughter, Diana Hinton; grandchildren, Britt Simmons (Suzy), Garth Simmons, Trey Simmons, Amelia Barnes (Rick), Bill Hinton, Jr., Hallie Pilcher, and a step-grandson, Eddie Blevins (Becky). Jim had two great grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister, Karen Bennett, several cousins and a host of friends that he stayed in touch with all over the world. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2015 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road with Pastor Dava Hensley officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
