Obituary of Helen Marie Flowers Kennedy

Helen “Mater” Marie Flowers Kennedy 42 of Salem passed away Sunday May 31, 2015. Her mother, Joyce Myers Flowers, preceded her. “Mater” enjoyed life and she proved it by living each day to their fullest. She enjoyed Harley Motorcycles and loved riding with all her wonderful friends and family. A very special person, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her father, Robert Gail Flowers of Salem; sister, Joyce Flowers Taylor of Vinton; a lifelong friend and “sista” Monica Simmons of Roanoke; two sons, Johnathan Robert Kennedy of Vinton, Joshua Lee Kennedy of Elliston; a daughter, Katelynn Marie Kennedy of Elliston; two grandsons, Johnathan “Lil J’ Kennedy and Xachery Kennedy; niece, Jennifer Flowers of Salem; two nephews, Justin Flowers of Salem, Luke Taylor of Vinton; aunts and uncles, Sara and Richard Chittum, Marc and Pat Myers, and Bill “JR” and fiancé Janet. Along with a host of other close relatives, Marie had way too many close and loving friends to add you all, but just know that she loved you all dearly. In lieu of flowers, family ask that donations be made to the funeral home to help with the services. Family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00pm Wednesday June 3, 2015 at Simpson Funeral Home. Inurnment will be private.
