Obituary of Ruth Maxine Emery

After enjoying her 91st birthday on May 7th, Ruth Moon Emery succumbed early Sunday morning, May 17th.Ruth was born in Muncie, Indiana to Ardith and Florence Moon, their second child of eight. She married Albert R. Emery in 1942 and remained so until his death in 2007, New Castle and Henry County residents for 61 years until she moved to Roanoke, VirginiaRuth was an avid scholar of family genealogy along with other members of her family. She was a committed member of the rural Henry County neighborhood and Shenandoah Schools District: Democrat poll worker at Cadiz, Band booster in the 1960's, Kennard and Cadiz Christian Church member, a trusted friend to many along and near the Kennard Road. She retired from the admissions office of Henry County Memorial Hospital in 1988.Ruth was a loving mother to Ronald D. Emery of Roanoke. Survivors include daughter-in-law, Teresa, grandchildren, Rachel, Lucas, and Jason. Her siblings who survive are, Charles E. Moon of California, Betty Jane Looper of Wilkinson, and Virginia Peters of Kennard. Ruth had special places in her heart for her many nieces and nephews.A graveside service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015 in Greenhills Memory Gardens 3578 W. State Road 38 New Castle, Indiana.
