Obituary of Georgia Ann Hill
Georgia Ann Plunkett Amos Hill, 80, of Roanoke, Virginia passed away on September 6, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her parents, George Thomas Plunkett and Sarah Morgan Plunkett; her in-laws, Fred and Bea Amos and Paul and Dora Hill; grandson, Mark Davis.
Georgia will be missed and remembered lovingly by her husband of 55 years, Paul “Buddy” Hill; son, Sidney Spencer Amos, Jr. and his wife Melanie Amos; daughter, Trisha Hill; daughter, Angela Hill and her husband Randall Duffy; and grandchild, Andromeda Read; brother, Layne Plunkett and his wife Beverly Plunkett; plus many others in her extended Plunkett, Amos and Hill families.
Georgia worked in the medical and educational fields. She kept in touch with the “girls” from the Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1963. She retired from Roanoke City Schools after years of working with special needs kids. A special thank you to the ladies of the REACH program at Grandin Court Elementary. She loved you all like family.
Over the past several years, she attended Spectrum Group meetings with her sister-in-law, Elaine Caudill. She loved learning new things and getting to know such wonderful people. Thank you for the cards sent over the past few weeks.
Georgia could not have made it through the past 2 and a half years without the care and support from Dr. Padmaja Mallidi, Dr. David Buck, Kristen Auckland, Susan Ames, and all the medical and support staff at Blue Ridge Cancer Care.
We cannot express the gratitude we feel for the staff at Good Samaritan Hospice. They were a Godsend to Georgia over the past month, especially this last week.
The family requests that in lieu of cards and flowers that you make a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society and Good Samaritan Hospice.
There are no services planned. A celebration of her outstanding life will be held at a later date.
