Obituary of Jerry Elgin Tuck

Jerry Elgin Tuck, 88, of Cloverdale, and formerly of Troutville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 18 after a lengthy illness. Jerry was the owner/operator of Jerry’s Sunoco and Hollins Gulf where he befriended and helped many locals and travelers throughout the years, and taught his children by example honor, charity, and his hard work ethic. Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Clifton Elgin Tuck of Halifax County and Grace Rebecca Hancock Goggin of Troutville, and a brother, Carl (Gloria) of Roanoke.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Betty Childrey Tuck, and their four children, Debbie (Manuel) Eller, J.C. (Mitzi) Tuck, Wanda (Ronnie) Tiller, and Linda (Sean) Shields. He also leaves to cherish his memory, grandchildren, Shannon, Eric, Jeremy, Tim, Kristi, Daniel, Logan, Nick & Ryan; as well as 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Alan (Janet) Tuck; sister, Elaine (Sonny) Hinchee of Troutville; special double-first cousin, Geraldine Coates; sisters-in-law, Sarah Powell and Becky (Gary) Allen of Halifax County, VA.

A memorial service will be held at Colonial Baptist Church in Blue Ridge on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior. Jerry’s pastors, Marvin and Joel Wegner, will officiate, with graveside prayer at the church cemetery.
