Obituary of David Wayne Simmons

David Wayne Simmons, 72, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022. He was the son of the late Melvin O. Simmons and the late Lola V. Casey Simmons. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Tootie Simmons. He spent his career as a residential painter.

He is survived by his daughters, Susie Ann Simmons and Debra Trail (Richard); grandchildren, Michelle Hamilton, Darrin Trail, Tabatha Bell, Jonathan Bell, Vanessa Bell, John Bell; siblings, Mike Simmons, Marty Boone, Bo Simmons, Becky Simmons, Alice Zirngibl, Melvin Simmons; special niece, Chelsey Simmons; long-time companion, Shirley Delp; as well as multiple other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will speak to friends following the service.
