Obituary of Bob Douglass
Robert (Bob) Lee Douglass, age 61, born November 9, 1960, of Christiansburg, VA (formerly of Conklin, NY), was called home on December 25, 2021. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, William and Patricia Douglass.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Patricia Douglass of Christiansburg, VA; brother, David Douglass (Mary Ann) of King of Prussia, PA; daughter, Julie Patricia Lee (Kelvin) of Vestal, NY; stepsons, Daniel Duaine Mattingly of Christiansburg, VA and David Michael Mattingly of Jacksonville, FL.; niece, Dianna Apple of Bristol, TN. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, dear friends and colleagues who have touched his life over the years.
Bob had a 30+ year career as a mechanical engineer spending most of those years at Elliott Manufacturing in Binghamton, NY. He was a 1980 graduate of Penn State University and a 1978 graduate of Upper Merion High School in King of Prussia, PA. He loved music, attending concerts any opportunity he could, hosting his annual summer party, and enjoying time with friends and family. He supported his beloved Philadelphia Eagles faithfully watching even when the season didn’t look so good. When they won the Super Bowl in 2018, you could hear and feel his excitement from many states away. He and his family shared many traveling adventures together making many memories along the way.
The family is thankful for the staff at Richfield Living Long Term Memory Care (Serenity Cottage). Their love and faithfulness in the care of Robert is so appreciated and will never be forgotten….Suzanne, Kendra, Paula, Caidi, Kim, Raynette, Jamie, Chris, Carolyn…there are no words to express how much you mean to all of us.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 1 pm on Monday, January 3, 2022 in the mausoleum of Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with long time family friend, Rev. Stephen Starzer officiating. The family will speak to friends following the service at the cemetery.
