Dorothy Trout Carroll, 92 of Blue Ridge, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 14, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Carroll. Mrs. Carroll was a longtime member of Grace Church. Surviving are her children, John A. Carroll and wife, Mary, of Katy, Texas, Nancy Carroll of Hebron, Kentucky, and Betty C. Knouff and husband, Russell, of Blue Ridge; grandchildren, Paula Acker, Alicia Marcano, Ana Ross, David Brenneman, Samuel Brenneman, Hannah Brenneman, Philip Knouff, Benjamin Knouff, and Abigail Knouff; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard Trout and wife, Sharon, of Ocala, Florida, Robert Trout and wife, Nancy, of Orlando, Florida, and sister, Louise Fischer, of Fort Myers, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Grace Church Emergency Fund or to the Montvale Rescue Squad. A Graveside Service will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, December 18, 2010, in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Tim Martin. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Grace Church, 2731 Edgewood Street Roanoke. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2010, at Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory, 5160 Peters Creek Road, 540-366-0707.
