Obituary of Karen Harrison

Karen Kay Harrison, 59, of Roanoke, departed this life on June 11, 2014. Born in San Diego, CA, Karen was the daughter of the late Louis and Helen Shelor. Her nephew, Anthony Paul Allen, also precedes her in death. Those left to uphold, enjoy, and cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law Kendall Keith and Amanda Harrison of Signal Mountain, TN; her daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Chuck Martin of Roanoke; grandsons Aidan, Kenan, and Kristopher Harrison of Signal Mountain, TN; four sisters, their husbands, and one brother: twin sister Sharon and Bill Callahan, Rae and Paul Allen, Mary and Huey Purdue, Beverly Coles, and Hank Shelor; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends - all from Roanoke. Karen lived and worked her entire life in the Roanoke Valley, spending the last fifteen years employed at HSN. She devoted herself to her family, always preferring to put others before herself. Karen's greatest joys came from spending time with those she loved and she also enjoyed music, dancing, and shopping. Her ability to find humor in any situation, even during her last difficult days, was a gift of God. Karen's fun-loving and kind spirit will be missed by those who knew and loved her. "Her children arise and call her blessed" (Proverbs 31:28). A service of worship honoring Karen's life will be held at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Rd, Roanoke, VA 24019 on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 11am with interment at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens following the service. Her family will receive visitors from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Simpson Funeral Home.
