Obituary of Larry Lingle

Larry, better known as Popsea enjoyed fishing with family and friends at the Outer Banks. Hunting was another love that he shared with his sons, grandchildren, brother and brothers in law. Popsea was also an avid golfer, especially enjoying the time spent on the golf course with his sons, grandson, and his regular golfing buddies. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Ada Thelma Riggs Lingle and a sister, Dorothy Ludene Ering. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Patricia Ann McCraw Lingle; sons, Raymond B. Lingle and wife Sandra of Roanoke; Darrin M. Lingle and wife Ashley of Richmond; daughter, Jill Trent Smith, husband Randy and Randy's son Max of Roanoke; grandchildren, MacKenzie Lingle, Avery and Austin Trent, Michael and Todd Lingle, brother, Ronald Joe Lingle and wife Diane of Marmaduke, Arkansass, several nieces and nephews and two brothers-in-law, Mike McCraw and Wallie of St. Louis Missouri; Tim McCraw and Sue of Arnold Missouri. The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Blue Ridge Cancer Care, the nurses at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, and the staff at Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their many acts of kindness during Larry's illness. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation P O Box 1848 Longmont, Colorado 80502. A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2014 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Chuck Stanley. A reception and celebration of Larry's life will follow at Lakeland Masonic Lodge from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6- 8 p.m. Thursday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
