Obituary of Pearl Ramsey

Pearl Wilkerson Ramsey, 95, of Salem, Va. died on Monday, April 28, 2014. Pearl was born on September 7, 1919 in Lynchburg, Va. to Edward E. and Elly Smith Wilkerson. She was the devoted wife of the late Benjamin A. Ramsey, her husband of 51 years. Brothers, Edward, Floyd, Earl [her twin] preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, Margo Sullivan Allen of Forest; Judy Sullivan Marshall and husband Wayne of Orlando, Fla.; step son, K. Wayne Ramsey and wife Jane of Salem; six grandchildren, Jeffrey B. Allen of Lynchburg, Joey D. Allen and wife Katherine of Evington; Angela A. Hendricks of Evington, Laura R. Marshall of Winter Park, Fla., K. Blair Price and husband Adam of Luray, and Brook R. Johnston and husband Tate of London, England; eleven great grandchildren, Anna Allen, Suzanne and Samantha Allen, Taylor and Autumn Hendricks, Derek Parker, Hannah and Bennett Dorton, Emerson Price, Asher and Reuel Johnson; and dear friend, Shearer Ramsey. Pearl was a kind and dear soul who was loved by all that met her. She was fondly known as "Sweet Pearl" by the nursing staff and caregivers at Richfield Retirement Community to whom we would like to extend our appreciation and gratitude. Blessed with a gentle, loving demeanor she left an indelible mark on many lives and her memory will be forever cherished. Proberbs 31:26 In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Fort Hill United Methodist Church 106 Oakridge Boulevard Lynchburg, Virginia 24502. A graveside service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014 in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The Reverend Janet Hawkins will officiate. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory.
