Ruth Fizer Barrows, 86, of Goodview went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 25, 2014. She was born February 5, 1928 in Dublin, Virginia a daughter of the late James Ralph Sr. and Cora Mabry Fizer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald S. "Don" Barrows, sons, Donald Alfred Bartlett and Dale Boyd Bartlett, brothers, Charles, James and Robert Fizer, and sisters, Carolyn Croy and Betty Bartlett. Ruth worked as a cosmetologist for Oakey's Funeral Service for a number of years before joining her husband in the family business, Furs By Don. Following the death of her husband and the closing of their business, she joined the staff at Simpson Funeral Home as a cosmetologist. Surviving are her son, William Danny Bartlett and wife Cathy of Cleveland, Ohio; daughter, Dawn Seay and husband Larry of Goodview; grandchildren, Dean, Kelly, Kim, Donnie, Dale, Daniel, Wyatt, and Elijah; a number of great grandchildren; brother, Ray Fizer and wife Shirley also of Cleveland, Ohio; sisters, Nancy Daniel and Mary Bayse both of Roanoke; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society 2840 Electric Road Roanoke, Virginia 24018. The family will honor Ruth's request that there be no visitation of public funeral service. Her remains will be buried in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with her beloved husband Don, and sons Donnie and Dale. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory. 366-0707
