Douglas Wayne (Doug) Mowles 54 of Roanoke passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was recently preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Vivian Pat "Granny" Conner. Surviving are his wife, Karen Akers Mowles; children, Daniel B. Mowles and wife Pinar of New York, New York; Douglas Andrew Mowles, Amanda Elizabeth Mowles both of Roanoke; Megan Nicole Rock of Salem; grandchild, James Gunner Ruscigno; father and mother, Fred and Shelby Mowles of Roanoke; brothers, David L. Mowles and wife Linda of Star, Arkansas; Donald R. (Don) Mowles and wife Cathy of Salem; sister, Dannette M. Reedy and husband Tim of Roanoke; and numerous aunts uncles nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to a charity of the donor's choice. A celebration of Doug's life will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until service time.
