Curtis Edward Graves 69 of Roanoke passed away Tuesday February 4, 2014 due to a long battle with heart issues and Lupus, at home with his loving family by his side. He was preceded by his parents, Dillard and Lillian Graves and a previous wife, Roxie D. Graves. Mr. Graves retired from the steel business after 40 years of service, 39 with Roanoke Electric Steel and 1 year with Steel Dynamics. He was a member of Ridge View Brethren in Christ Church. He enjoyed being outdoors in his garden and crafting when he was able. A very loving husband, father, brother, and friend, he will be dearly missed by all. Surviving are his loving wife, Gloria; his daughter, Melissa; sisters, Reda Hixon of Christiansburg, Ruth Davis and husband Pete of Blacksburg, Shirley Shepard and husband Lewis of Blacksburg, Freda King of Salem; his brother, "Bunny" and wife Barbara of Christiansburg; sister-in-law, Ina Mae Graves of Blacksburg; along with several nieces, nephews and dear friends. A graveside service celebrating Mr. Graves' life will be held 11:00am Friday, February 7, 2014 in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Rev. Peter Von Keyserling officiating.
