Joseph (Joe) Scavotto, Jr. 72 of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Friday, December 27, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna M. and Joseph Scavotto, Sr. and a brother Wray Scavotto. Mr. Scavotto was proud to have served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a truck driver with Shamrock Foods in Phoenix Arizona and had thirty seven years of driving with no accidents. Among his many hobbies were working crossword puzzles, flowers, and gardening. Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Tina (Marjorie) Scavotto; children, Maria Lavoie and husband Christian; Stephen Scavotto; step children, Bruce Bailey; and Sherrie Bailey Faries; grandchildren, Troy Faries and wife Britt, Erica Bailey, Robert Faries and wife Alison, Amanda Almazon and husband Ignacio, Ashley Faries, and Brandon Bailey; ; great grandson, Andreas Almazon (Little big man); brothers, John Scavotto and wife Mary, Louie Scavotto, Michael Scavotto and wife Judy; sisters, Joann Hogan and husband Larry, Sandy Bishop and husband Fred; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the Community of Faith Brethren In Christ Church 5343 Fallowater Lane Roanoke, Va. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. until service time. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory. 366-0707
