Obituary of Billy Rakes

Billy L. Rakes 68 of Roanoke, known by his friends and customers as "Honda Bill" passed away Saturday December 14, 2013. He was preceded by his father and mother, Charles and Effie Rakes of Franklin County; his brothers, Marvin and Clifford Rakes, and by a sister, Gerene Rakes. Billy owned and operated the Honda Service Center in Stewartsville for over 25 years. He served his country proudly in the Army Reserves for six years. When he had some free time his favorite past time was hunting, especially for turkeys. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Martha Ann Rakes; daughters, Michelle Clements and husband John, Jackie Ann Brown and husband Bud, Tambra Bridger and husband Darin; sons, Eddie and Gary Graham; twelve grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Brandon, Trevor, Ashley, Joshua, Cole, Christian, Ethan, Kaitlyn, Jessica, Hannah; and two great grandchildren, Waylon, Kaleb; sisters, Naomi DeHart, Pauline Spencer and Victoria Turman and husband Charles; brothers, Lane and Larry Rakes, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Family would like to give a special thank you to Medi Home Health and Hospice for all their care and support for Mr. Rakes during this time. A memorial service celebrating Billy's life will be held 2:00pm Friday December 20, 2013 in the Abbey at Sherwood Memorial Park with Rev. Billy Shively officiating.
