Obituary of Warren Snyder

Warren Chapman Snyder, 61 of Roanoke passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013. He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances J. Snyder and father-in-law, Wayne Hudson. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Becky, father, Charles (Rufus) Snyder, brother, Charlie and wife Karen, nephew, Aaron and wife April, mother-in-law, Iris Norris, and his cousin that he thought of as a brother, Barry Snyder, and special friend, Cliff Smith, as well as many extended family members. Warren could never be idle. He was always reading stock reports, fishing, hunting or trying to fix anything broken. He never met a stranger and was always there when a friend was in need. Warren drove a semi and hauled produce from coast to coast for 10 years, then became a professional paint contractor for the next 25 years. He then worked at a garage and loved doing road service calls. In the early 1980's he earned his Airman's License and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. His passion in life was fishing and hunting and he was happiest when he was in a boat on a body of water or sitting in a tree stand. He loved to talk to anybody that would give him advice on how to "snag the big one". In the last 8 years, his quality of life diminished which made him unable to do the things in life that made him happiest. He fought a good fight but lost the battle. We can only hope that he has found a great fishing hole in heaven. In honor of Warren's love of animals, memorials may be made to the Roanoke Valley SPCA 1340 Baldwin Avenue Roanoke, Va. 24012. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in the Mausoleum Chapel at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Ronald Young.
