Thurman Wayne Dooley, 83, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, December 15, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Leona Dooley, brother, Harold Dooley, and sister, Florence Welch. Wayne served in the U S Navy, was a former Roanke City Police Officer, and retired as a dispatcher with Blue Ridge Transfer. He was an avid outdoorsman with a special love of hunting and trout fishing. Surviving are his wife, Ann Dooley, sons, Michael Dooley and wife Wanda of Roanoke; stephen Dooley and wife Paula of Anderson, S.C.; step sons, Mark House and wife Wendy of St. Louis, Missouri; Allen House and wife April of Roanoke; seven grandchildren, and a nephew, Frankie Dooley and wife Michelle of Bedford County. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Fraternal Order of Police 3301 Preston Avenue Roanoke, Va. 24012. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Art Hearne. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
