Sebert A. Moran, 89, of Roanoke, went to be with his Lord, Monday, December 9, 2013. He was a member of Shenandoah Baptist Church and retired from General Electric. Sebert proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a young man in World War II. He was one of the "Great Generation". He was known by many for visiting, and sharing the love of Jesus with other veterans as they waited at the VA Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence A. and Ettero C. Moran; brothers, Rev. Leonard Moran, Milton, Buford, Jesse, John Bruce, Nelson, and Talmage Moran; sisters, Sadie Cox and Gertrude Woodring. Sebert is survived by his wife, Meleta Jane Moran; daughter, Myra Gail Moran; grandchildren, Michael Shane Moran Briggs and wife, Genevieve, Niki Briggs Voudren and husband, Eric; great-grandchild, Olivia Shae Briggs; sister, Veda Cook; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, December 13, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home. A service of celebration will be Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 1 p.m in Simpson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Alderman and Pastor Don Eshelman officiating.
