Earl Ray Stamper 80 of Roanoke went to be with the Lord on November 24, 2013. He was preceded by his parents, Frances Virginia and Durphy Mack Stamper; brothers, Billy Mack and Vernie McCoy Stamper and a sister, Frances Virginia Blankenship. He retired from Rish Equipment Company with over 25 years of service, and is a member of Southview United Methodist Church. Mr. Stamper was a fifty year, 32nd Degree Mason, Harman Lodge #222 AF & AM in Bluefield Virginia. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, he will be dearly missed by all. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Jean Lewis Stamper; daughters, Carrie Johnson and husband Tom, Teresa Carter and husband Ric; grandchildren, Trevor Johnson, Amber Green and husband Nicholas, Cheyenne Carter and Saje Carter; brothers, Jackie L. Stamper and wife Cookie of Richmond, Charles David Stamper and wife Sue of Bluefield, WV; along with many other relatives and special friends. Family would like to thank the 7th floor CCU staff at RMH and Dr. Terrence May for their care and support during this time. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Mr. Stamper's memory. A service celebrating Mr. Stamper's life with Masonic Rites will be held Tuesday November 26, 2013 with the time to be announced at Simpson Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Klotz officiating. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family Monday November 25, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00p at Simpson Funeral Home.
