James Waynard (JR) Kellison, Jr. 44 of Roanoke passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his father James W. Kellison, Sr., grandparents, Myrtle Kellison, Melvie McMillion, Mary Rigsby Cochran and John Golden Cochran. JR enjoyed spending time shooting pool with Scott Johnson and his other friends on the Second Alarm Pool Team. In addition to playing pool, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and all of the great outdoors.. Surviving are his mother, Pamela (Pam) Cochran, brothers, Wayne Kellison of Renick, West Virginia; Neal Kellison of Mocksville, N.C.; several aunts and uncles including special aunt and uncles, Sue Cochran and John Patsel of Troutville; Melva (Bedford) Kellison of Roanoke; special cousins, Nancy Kellison and her son Nathaniel Crawford, Angela Tyree and her children, Mary Tolley, Karah Tyree, Melynda Turman. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice Nurses Rachel and Jewel for the kind compassionate care they provided during JR's illness. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to Amedisys Hospice 1312 E. Main Street Salem, Virginia 24153. A celebration of JR's life will be held 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road with Pastor Scott Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until servicetime. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory. 366-0707
