Vernon Leroy Scott, 78, of Salem, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Scott; mother, Louise P. Scott and father, Vernon J. Scott.
Leroy was dedicated to his work and after 36 years of service he retired from Roanoke Auto Spring Works. He was enthusiastic about automobiles. He knew all of the vintage cars and could tell you at a glimpse the year, make, and model. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching classic shows and movies.
Leroy is survived by his son, Tony Scott, and wife Stacy of Salem; grandson, Jason Scott; and a very special person he thought the world of and best friend, Charlotte Poff; along with other relatives.
Leroy was a faithful dog lover and the family request that in lieu of flowers to please consider donating to the ASPCA in his memory.
A graveside service celebrating Mr. Scott's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Pastor Troy Mays officiating.
