Obituary of Vivian Truxell

Vivian Bishop Truxell 65 of Eagle Rock, formerly of Roanoke went to be with the Lord on Saturday November 2, 2013. She was preceded by a granddaughter, Mary Joan Bishop; her father, William E. Smith, Sr.; and a brother, Stephen Smith. Mrs. Truxell while living in Roanoke attended New Life Christian Ministries for many years, then moving to Eagle Rock, she attended Mount Bethel Brethren Church. She retired from CHRV after 17 years of service. During her spare time she enjoyed her garden, canning of all types, arts and crafts and especially going to yard sales. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend she will be dearly missed them all. Surviving are her loving and devoted husband of 15 years, Harold D. Truxell; the light of her life, grandson, David M. Bishop; four sons, David T. Bishop and wife Betty of Roanoke, Thomas "Tommy" Truxell and wife Lysa of Stuarts Draft, Ronnie Truxell and wife Teresa of Stanton, Jay Truxell and wife Shelly of Churchville; her mother, Gloria Smith of FL; sisters, Donna Doss and husband Larry, Virginia Freiburger and husband Bob, Bonnie Koren; brother, William "Bill" E. Smith, II; along with multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends; and special friend Ann Duke of Buchanan. The family would like to thank the staff at Roanoke Memorial Hospital and the University of Virginia Medical Center for all their love, care, and support of Mrs. Truxell during this time. In lieu of cut flowers family suggests sending potted plants. A service celebrating Mrs. Truxell life will be held 7:00pm Wednesday November 6, 2013 at Simpson Funeral Home with Brother Walter Wood officiating.
