Dixie Self Conn, 48 of Conway, S.C. (formerly of Roanoke) went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 1, 2013. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lottie Self and a sister, Sherry Frances. Dixie was a graduate of Emmanuel Baptist University and worked as a teacher of the second grade at Conway Christian School. In addition to being a loving and devoted wife, and mother, she was known to have a great love of singing. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Dr. Michael Conn, children, Jessica Conn of Roanoke; Daniel Conn of Raleigh,NC; and Luke Conn of Conway, SC; father, Lloyd Self of Shelby, NC; mother, Charlene Bush of Roanoke; sisters, Terrie Melton of Shelby, NC; and Dee Kazinec and husband Brian of Atlanta, GA. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the Conway Christian School 1200 Medlen Parkway Conway, SC 29526. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 at New Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. Bobby Andrews and the Rev. Jeff York. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. 366-0707
