Obituary of Munsey Cox

Munsey H. (M.H.) Cox, age 82, of Roanoke County, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, September 27, 2013. He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy for over 20 years. His military career included the Korean Conflict working in the area of Communications onboard ships and land as well. He also retired from C & P Telephone Company. He also faithfully served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Committee person at Melrose Baptist Church. M.H. was preceded in death by his parents, Munsey and Etta Lee Cox; sisters, Drucilla Lambert and Barbara Cochran; a brother, Joe Cox and brothers-in-law, Norm Walters, Jim Custer and wife Ethel. M.H. is survived by his loving wife, Mary Custer Cox, just celebrating their 62nd Anniversary on September 22, 2013; two daughters, Connie Abdelhadi and husband Vic of Ocala, FL; Joy Gibbs and husband Steve of Newport News, VA; grandchildren, Kathryn Thomas and husband Dan of Ocala, Fl., Alex Gibbs of Newport News, Nasser Abdelhadi and wife Kasey of Roanoke; three great grandchildren, plus nieces and nephews. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Melrose Baptist Church, 3520 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA. 24019 or the American Heart Association. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 4, 2013 from 5:00-7:00pm at Simpson Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00am Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Melrose Baptist Church by the Rev. Larry Sprouse, the Rev. Brenda Rowe, and the Rev. Bob West.
