John Rhu Gibson, 72, of Troutville, departed this life on Saturday, September 21, 2013, to return to his Heavenly Father, and elder brother Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn K. Gibson, parents Nancy Blanche Teeters Gibson and Earl Sylvester Gibson, Brother Earl "Hoot" Gibson. Left to cherish his memory are daughters and sons-in-law; Tonda and Terry Yates, Trinda and Jeff Huffman; son and daughter-in-law, Cody and Nancy Gibson. Grandchildren, Amanda and husband Ritchie Dillard, Justin, Ryan, Madelyn, Brandon "Skippy" and wife Rachael Hartman. Great grandchildren, Nathan, Colton, Hayley, Ellie, Tyler, and Aden. And his four legged children, Gypsey, Zae, Kiera, and Molly. Dad retired from Roanoke City Mills Mennel Milling in 2003. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1969, where he served valiantly for many years. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, and collecting guns. Many stories and laughs are shared at family get togethers about the many hunting trips. He enjoyed watching westerns and had a wealth of knowledge in church history and American history. He will greatly be missed by all who knew him, till we meet again. The family will receive friends Monday, September 23, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted, Tuesday, September 24, 2013, 10 a.m. at Simpson Funeral Home chapel with Bishop Tommy J. Williams officiating, interment will follow at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home. (540) 366-0707.
