Obituary of Opal Hollandsworth

Opal Dean Thornton Hollandsworth, 74, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 10, 2013. She was the daughter of late Ernest and Dora Thornton. Opal is survived by husband, Denny Lee Hollandsworth; son, Terry Lee Hollandsworth and wife, Barbara Jane; daughter, Sharon Elaine Weeks and husband, David; brother, James Thornton; sisters, Eva Sutphin and Lydia Millirons; grandchildren, Colt Evan Hollandsworth and wife, Angel, Dustin Wayne Weeks, Isaiah Chase Weeks and Alyssa Leigh Weeks; great- grandchildren, Philip Colton Lee Hollandsworth and Desireée Shailee Hollandsworth. Opal loved her family ensuring everyone was happy. Her son and daughter have become successful, loving, happy people because of her example. Opal was a dedicated hairdresser and owner of Scissors Circuit Designs. She was dedicated to serving her customers and the community of Salem. She was a stranger to no one and friend to all. The family would like to thank the staff of Gentle Shepherd Hospice and Carilion Palliative Care for all their care and support given. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to Gentle Shepherd Hospice. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2013, at Simpson Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
