Obituary of Edward Boley
Please share a memory of Edward to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Edward Boley 81 of Roanoke went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 9, 2013. On July 12, 1932 in the Mountains of East Tennessee, Anderson and Hettie Boley welcomed another "little Boley" Edward into their home.
Always proud of his East Tennessee heritage, Ed was educated in the Cocke County schools and received his undergraduate degree from East Tennessee State.
Ed taught in Tennessee before moving to Caroline County, Va., where he taught at C.T. Smith High School. In Fredericksburg, he was the Principle at James Monroe High School, as he pursued his Master's Degree at William and Mary College.
In 1970 he came to Roanoke and served as Principal at Patrick Henry High School, in Central Administration and as a teacher.
Ed was a gentle man and a gentlemen. He loved to sing and he performed with several local choruses and with the church choir at Greene Memorial United Methodist Church.
Always wanting to contribute to the community, he served as President of the Mental Health Association and the Thursday Morning Music Club. He also served in leadership positions in his educational association and Greene Memorial UMC.
All who knew him realized his commitment to his family, his church, his friends, and his community.
Waiting to greet him in a better place are his parents, his in-laws, Ada and Hubert Brickey, nephew, Christopher Boley and a beloved sister Cynthia, along with his faithful dachshunds.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 46 years, Carolyn; his dachshund, Buster; a brother, Don Boley and his wife Emma of Newport, TN; a niece Kim Boley Whitmore and husband John; and a great nephew Christopher of Johnson City, TN; niece, Alicia Boley Stinson and husband Scott, great niece Emily and nephew, Tyler of Del Rio, TN; great niece, Jodi Hollands, Greenville, TN. Along with a close group of friends who have provided support and care though out his illnesses.
