Gloria Jean Chittum Thomas of Vinton passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband Kyle Gene Thomas. Mrs. Thomas was a charter member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church. Surviving are her sons, James Johnson, Jr. and wife Ginger of Goodview; Stephen Johnson and wife Vivian of Mechanicsville; David Johnson and wife Andrea of Vinton; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Mineral Springs Baptist Church 1030 Bible Lane Vinton, Va. 24179. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Jason Gault. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will recieve friends from 5-9 p.m. Friday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
