Maggie H. Parker, 83, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, July 25, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Parker, sister, Ann Nipper, and brothers Wallace, Ervin, and Olen Shupe. Mrs Parker worked as a seamstress at Kenrose Manufacturing and Halmode Apparel for many years. She later worked for Ames Department Store. She was a longtime member of Roanoke Valley Cathedral of Praise. Surviving are her son, Jim Parker and wife Jean; grandchildren, Monica Brady and husband Benjamin, Katie Hensley and Alex Craig; great grandson, Nathanial Parker; brothers, Dave Shupe and wife Judy, Raymond Shupe and wife Dottie, George Shupe and wife Helen; sisters, Ollie Lawson and husband Herbert, Shirley Hines and husband David; Charlotte Dunahoe; sister in law, Shirley Shupe. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2013 in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens by Pastor Harry Miller. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
