Obituary of Dorothy Carroll

Dorothy Fay Carroll of Roanoke, 58, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 24, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fay Jacqueline and Russell Dillon. Dorothy is survived by her loving and caring husband Rodney Carroll; son, Michael Wayne Crouse of Salem; daughter, Patricia Fay and son-in-law Scott Johnson of Salem; step daughters, Crystal and Sarah Carroll of Roanoke; grandson, Jayden; sisters, Mary Ann Miller of Las Vegas, Becky Stapleton and husband Steve of Roanoke; brother, Matt Dillon and wife Candy of Salem; mother-in-law, Mary Lou Carroll of Roanoke; sister-in-law, Lynn Hall of Marion along with many special aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and all the close friends Dorothy worked with that she considered family. Dorothy was very passionate about her family and animals and enjoyed working at the Animal Care Center of Salem and spending time with her beloved canine companions, Precious, Stormy, and Flash. Also very talented in crafting, which being has left a lifetime of memories for her family and friends. She dedicated her life to always to think of others and always had a smile on her face. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Animal Care Center Distressed Fund, 1035 Electric Rd, Salem, Va, 24153, American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Rd. Roanoke, Va. 24018 or Good Samaritan Hospice, 2408 Electric Rd, Roanoke, Va. 24018. A funeral service celebrating Dorothy's life will be held 1:00pm Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Simpson Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family Friday, July 26, 2013 from 12:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
