Howell Paxton Conner, 62, of Troutville passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013. Those to welcome him at Heaven's gates are his parents, Betty C. Via, Jack and Dot Conner, and brothers, Winston Conner and Mac Via. Howell will be missed by his many friends. It has been said that Howell never met a stranger. He loved to fish, camp and hunt in addition to his interests in music and Nascar racing. He was full of life and ready to enjoy whatever life had to offer. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joann (Jody) Conner; son, Joseph (Joe) Conner and wife Sherry; brothers, Jack Conner (Linda), Ronnie Fritz; sisters, Princess Harrah (Jimmy), Chris Elliott and Karen Layton; special brother-in-law, Walter Layton and sister in law Vickie Conner; grandsons, Eddie and Brent Hamm; great granddaughter, Avery Hamm; and numerous nieces and nephews which all love him dearly. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to Brain Injury Services of Southwest Virginia 3904 Franklin Road Roanke, Virginia 24014. A memorial service will be conducted 7 p.m. Wednesday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Troy Mays. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. Wednesday until service time.
