Obituary of Barbara A. Schuyler

Barbara A. Johnson Schuyler, 75, of Salem, formerly of Beckley, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. She was preceded by her parents, George and Pearl Johnson; sisters, Margaret Dillon and Nancy Ruth Johnson. Ms. Schuyler, a registered nurse, served proudly as a Captain in the United States Air Force, having been stationed here in the United States and overseas. She retired from Nursing with over 50 years of service, and then relocated from Beckley, W.Va. to Salem to be with family. She was a member the American Legion Post 32 in Beckley for many years. In Salem, she attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Barbara was a person who enjoyed shopping, flowers, and mostly being with her family and three very precious grandchildren. She was a true lady, a special mother, grandmother, aunt, and a friend. Through the years she was honored to have touched many lives, both professionally and personally, she will be dearly missed by all. Surviving are her daughter, Angela Schuyler-Meadows and husband, Les, of Salem; grandchildren, Austin, Alyssa and Ashton Meadows; nieces, Margaret "Peggy" Chambers and husband, Donnie, Bonnie Moore and husband, Larry, all of West Virginia; nephew, George Boggs and wife Babetta ,of Tennessee; great-niece and nephew, April Blake and Allen Moore, both of West Virginia; along with a very dear friend, Judy Meadows, of West Virginia; and many other relatives and friends. A memorial service celebrating Barbara's life will be held 7 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, in Simpson Funeral Home with Pastor Troy Mays officiating. Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until the service on Friday.
