Obituary of Mary Mullins
Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Evelyn Davidson Mullins 89 of Roanoke ( also known as Mamaw) entered the gates of heaven where her Jesus and husband Johnny Mullins welcomed her home. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She grew up in Jenkins, Kentucky and moved to Pound, Virginia after she married Johnny in 1942. She lived there until she was 70 years old and then moved to Roanoke to be with her "girls". She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Pound, Va. and also was a member of the Eastern Star. In addition to her husband Mrs. Mullins was preceded in death by her parents, Garrett and Pearl Baker Davidson, brothers, Colbert, G.H., and Erwin Davidson, sisters, Pauline Dockery, and Beulah (Bill) Hamilton, and a son in law, Robert (Bobby) Duckworth. She worked as the greeter and the "old" bagger at The Gift Niche where she was known as "Mamaw on the Market". Music was her passion. She was a poet and wrote many rhymns and stories. Her son and "baby" as she called him made her proud by writing songs about her. Her talents will live on through him. Words cannot express the appreciation that the family feels for the doctors and nurses at Lewis Gale Hospital, and especially for Dr. Jasmin Jerez-Marte for her support during "mamaw's" illness. Surviving are her children, Laura Duckworth and Vickie Mullins Smith of Roanoke; Tony Mullins and wife Kimberly of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Robbie Duckworth, Jason Duckworth and wife Robyn, MaLora Kingery, Veronica Long, Todd Smith and wife Anna, Stacy Lynch and husband Claude, Jeffrey Duckworth and wife Pam, James Marshall and wife Jamie, Brandon Marshall and wife Tonya; great grandchildren, A.J, John and Toni Kingery, Haley and Tyler Smith, Richard Goodwin, Peyton Long, Zachary Duckworth, Dakota and Josiah Wienges, Dakota, Wyatt and Wrenn Duckworth, Baley, Kirmera, Lyrica and Cameron Marshall; special boys, David, Harley, and Ethan Duckworth.
