George "Dogwood" Dewey Scott 74 of Salem passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Nina Scott, sisters Marie Simpkins, Jo Sifford, Eunice Marshall, Vernie Simpkins; brothers, Ralph and Millard Scott; son, Jeffrey Scott; granddaughter, Laura Goad; and step daughter, Carolyn Haymore. Mr. Scott retired from Old Virginia Brick Company. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Deloris Scott; son, Carmen Scott; step children, Linda Jackson and husband Skip; Sandra Goad and husband Steve; Jerry Lamb; sisters, Irene Brown and husband Bob; and Virginia Simpkins. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Angels of Assisi 415 Campbell Avenue Roanoke, Virginia 24016. A memorial service will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. Saturday until service time.
