Obituary of Lois Huddleston

Please share a memory of Lois to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lois P. Huddleston, 85, of Roanoke was called home on Friday, April 12, 2013. Lois, better known to many as Granny, lived life to the absolute fullest. She loved attending and volunteering at her church, went dancing with her boyfriend on Friday nights, traveled with her travel club, took regular exercise classes, enjoyed bridge weekly, and loved volunteering. She was even inducted into Roanoke's Senior Citizen Hall of Fame for her extensive community service. Lois's family often joked that they had to book a slot in her busy schedule if they wanted to see her, but she truly cherished her family and friends and was willing to move Heaven and Earth to spend time with them. She greeted everyone she met with a hug, and welcomed each day with love, joy, laughter, kindness and enthusiasm. Though she is deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing that Lois has truly left this world a better, brighter place. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Elbert Huddleston. Surviving are her daughter, Romma Richardson and husband Chester; son, Marvin Huddleston and wife Claudia; grandchildren, Dane Okerman, Amy Huddleston and husband Josh Richards; grandson, Neil Huddleston; and a sister, Linda Guttman. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Unity of Roanoke Valley or to the SPCA. A celebration of Lois's life will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Unity of Roanoke Valley 3300 Green Ridge Road Roanoke. The family will receive friends at a reception immediately following the service. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
