Obituary of William Jones

William T. (Bill) Jones 75 of Troutville, Bill Kept his faith that God would heal him from all of his cancers, but that was not in God's plan, so he took him home on Saturday, March 23, 2013 where he will never suffer again. He was preceded by a son, William "Billy" Jones; parents, Ora Mae and John Jones; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Lester Pope, Blanche and Clyde Pope; brothers, John E. and Warren L. Jones; and sister-in-law, Georgette Boggess. Bill retired from Virginia Department of Transportation after many years of service. Surviving are his loving wife of 31 years, Marie Jones; sister, Betty Walker and husband Howard of Burkeville; brother, Elroy E. Jones of Black Stone; step sons, Charles Calvin Staton and wife, Jeannie of Columbia, Floyd Clifton Staton and fiancée Rebecca Carter of Columbia; grandchildren, Candace, Brittany, Megan, Jordon, Jacob, Jayden, and Michael Billings and his wife Sharon. great grandchildren, Taylor, Alex, Darius, and Brooklyn; sisters-in-law, Doris Jones of Alexandria, Dorothy Pritt of Buchanan; brothers-in-law, Harry Boggess, Paul Boggess and wife Gena all of Buchanan along with a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Jones would like to thank those who prayed, called and brought food and companionship during this difficult time. Would also like to express my thanks to Roger Jones who helped me in many ways along with Cathy Saunders, Dorothy Pritt, and to Carilion Clinic Hospice and his nurse, Alan. Memorials may be made to Carilion Clinic Hospice, 1615 Franklin Road, Roanoke, Va. 24016 in his name. A funeral service celebrating Bill's life will be held 1:00pm Wednesday, March 27, 2013 in Simpson Funeral Home with Bishop Edward Pope officiating. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
