Katie Hall Murdock 65 of Moneta, formerly of Troutville went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 22, 2013. She was born on June 30, 1947 to the late Claude and Louise Hall, was also preceded by her husband, Bruce Murdock; brothers, Warren E. Hall and Ralph Alls. Mrs. Murdock is a retired Phlebotomist, working for RMH, Lap Corp and did DNA testing for the state of Virginia. She enjoyed life and was a great cook and will be dearly missed by her family. Surviving are her daughters, Melissa Stinespring and husband, Jack of Moneta, Vickie Cooper Marino of Montvale; grandchildren, Trey Powers, Justin Cooper, Chase Cooper, Amanda Stinespring; one great granddaughter; sisters, Freda Richardson and husband John of Cloverdale, Barbara Gibson and her special friend Daniel Williams of Troutville; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thank you to Sharon Hartwell and Rose Abril, and also to Sringtree Nursing Home and Amedisys Hospice who all helped and care for Katie during this time. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital in her memory. A service celebrating Mrs. Murdock's life will be held 2:00pm Monday, March 25, 2013 in Simpson Funeral Home with Chaplain Troy Mays officiating. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family Monday, from 12:00pm til service time.
