On Thursday, February 21, 2013, around 5:45 am and just before a beautiful sunrise, our Lord called Louisa Housman Byrd age 90 of Hardy, ONE of the most beautiful souls to have ever walked upon this earth to join Him in his heavenly home. She was preceded by her loving husband, Henry C. Byrd; son, Richard Wayne Byrd; grandson, Edmund C. Byrd, Jr.; 6 brothers and 4 sisters. Mrs. Byrd was a charter member of the Connelly Memorial Baptist Church. "Mom" was the most caring, giving, loving, hard working and unselfish person that they have ever known, she was the best cook ever to pick up a pot or pan and if you ever left her table hungry, you must have been sick. No person could have had a better mother, grandmother or great grandmother. Lord, take good care or her "SHE IS SPECIAL". Surviving are her son, Edmund C. Byrd and wife Brenda of Roanoke; daughters, Louise Huffman and husband David of FL, Barbara A. Price and fiancé Robert Wood of Hardy; granddaughter, Jennifer Byrd Etzler of Roanoke; grandsons, David L. Huffman, Jr. and wife Robin of FL., Craig A. Huffman and wife Christi of Vinton; great grandsons, Jacob Muce, Gavin Etzler Chase Etzler all of Roanoke; step grandchildren, Jeff, Stacy, Lisa, Rich and all their families. along with a host of other relatives and dear friends. The family would like to thank Barbara and Robert for taking care of "mom" during this time. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to your favorite charity in her name.
