Linda Ruff Ellis, 70, of Salem went home to be with the Lord Sunday, February 17, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer T. "Bud" Ellis, parents, Sam and Ruth Ruff, brother Robert and sister Marie. Mrs. Ellis retired from General Electric in Salem. While at General Electric she served as a shop steward and later as a member of the board of union local # 8261 of the IUE-CWE. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had a special love of animals and gardening. Surviving are her daughter, Christy (Ellis) Robinson; sons, Gary D. Ellis, Danny E. (Yoshiko) Ellis, and Jerry T. (Lora) Ellis; grandchildren, Gary (Denise) Ellis Jr., Jerry T. (Angela) Ellis Jr., Christopher T. Ellis, Rachael (Ellis) Wood; great grandchildren, Shelby Ellis, Bonnie Ellis, Hailey Ellis, Autumn Wood, Devon Wood and Brittany Wood; special friends, Frances Hale, Julie Porter, Alisha and Wade Daughterty, John McCloud, and Wayne Reed. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Pastor Michael DuVal. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery Vinton. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
