Obituary of Dorothy Shell

Dorothy Lemon Shell, 81, of Roanoke went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 6, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen Davis and Robert J. Lemon, and her husband Donald Shell. Surviving are her son, Randy Shell of Woodbridge; son and daughter in law, Gary and Cindy Shell, and one grandson, Tyler Shell all of Roanoke. Also surviving are brother and sister in law, Robert and Sylvia Lemon of Salem. Although unable to attend much in recent years, she was a long-time member of Grace United Methodist Church in Roanoke. She enjoyed being able to get out whenever she could and especially taking a trip once a year to spend time with her yougest son, Randy at his home in Northern Virginia. Special thanks to Tonya Hodges who Dorothy grew to love over the last three months for all her devotion and special care. The family could not have made it though the past few months without her. Also thanks to Joyce Graham, and Sandy Laing for their help and care duing this time. Another special thanks to Teresa Millerd for her special care as well and who was there to help Dorothy during her last moments with us. Thank you to Home Instead for their help with her care when needed. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in Sherwood Memorial Park by the Rev. E.E. "Dick" Jones. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. 366-0707
