Charley L. Begley, 39, of Salem, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013. He had worked as an operations technician for 13 years. A career that helped him grow and achieve his potential in life. Charley was a lover of all types of music. He is described by his friends as having a beautiful smile, and being a good soul. His personality touched everyone he met. Surviving are his mother, Marlene (Joyce) Begley of Roanoke; brother, George H. Begley and wife Mandy and their children, Houston, Mercy and Iris of Louisiana; partner, Catherine Smith and her daughter Cayse of Salem; step father, Charles F. Snellings of Salem; and his best friend Tommy Huddleston and wife Teresa also of Salem. A gathering of Charley's family and friends will be held on Thursday evening from 5-8 pm at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. 540-366-0707.
