Edward L. Jewell, Sr., 74, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Ed was preceded in death by his Father and Mother Curtis and Ethel Jewell. He left behind a wife of 38 years, Lessie Jane Jewell; brother Paul Jewell, of Salem; son Edward L. Jewell, Jr. (Lee), of Salem; step-children, Walter Glass & wife Marianne of Seattle, Washington, Brenda Ricchi & husband Tom of Ellenton, Florida, Wanda Desper & husband David of Salem., Bruce Glass & wife Lisa of Salem. He also had 12 grand-children and 11 great-grandchildren. Ed was a veteran in the United States Navy, and also work at the call office of the N&W railroad for approximately 20 years before he retired in 1987. A memorial service is planed for Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 1pm at Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends following the service.
