Obituary of Idamae Hartman

Idamae Harms Hartman, 94, of Roanoke, formerly of Havertown, PA and Seaside Park, NJ, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Harms and Minnie Stuve Harms of New Jersey, her husband Frederick William Hartman and her brothers, Dr. Charles Richard Harms, his wife Aileen Harms, Howard Stuve Harms, his wife Linnea Harms. She is survived by her children, Dr. David Hartman, his wife Dr. Cheryl Hartman of Roanoke; Barbara Hartman Fisher, her husband Charles Barbour Fisher of Houston; living grandchildren, Dr. Douglas Frederick Hartman, his wife Dr. Lauren Brodsky Hartman, Paul David Hartman, Elizabeth Hartman Newcomb, her husband Steven Newcomb, Charles Scott Fisher. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Sadie Berlin Hartman, Samuel Mills Hartman, and many loving nephews, nieces, and their families. Idamae "Idie" grew up in Westfield, New Jersey, and graduated from high school in 1936. In 1940 she graduated from Gettysburg College where she met her husband. Her loving devotion and dedication as a mother allowed her children to realize their dreams. Family and friends loved her for her abundance of kindness, generosity, and care she gave to them. Throughout her whole life, she was a total inspiration in her desire to be independent and in her patience to accept help in her later years as she needed it. We extend our appreciation to those who cared for her in her later years. Family members welcome friends to join them for a celebration of her life and reception 2 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013 in the Lapsley Chapel of First Presbyterian Church 2101 South Jefferson Street Roanoke, Va. 24014-0538 www.fpc.roa.org.
