Edward A. Pazdan 64 of Roanoke, born January 6, 1948, went to rest high on the mountain Tuesday, December 25, 2012. Edward honorably served our country in the United States Army. He was a policeman for 22 years in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Once retired from the force, he owned and operated Ed's Welding in Philadelphia (Tacony), Pennsylvania for 10 years. Moving to mountainous Roanoke in 1991, he was employed at Virginia Truck Center and American Bethel before opening the now infamous Chubbie's Real Philly Cheese Steaks at Lamplighter Mall. Surviving Ed are his wife of 28 years, Shirleyann; children, Ann Locke (fiancé, Brent) of Pottstown, Pa., Kathleen Barnes (James) of Bensalem, Pa., Michael (Kristen) of Philadelphia, Pa., Edward Jr. (fiancée, Sheila) of Riverside, NJ., James Dixon (Morgan) of Jacksonville, Fl., Heather Reigle (Robert) of Tampa, Fl., Vincent Strausser (Ailee) of Chalfont, Pa., Joseph Strausser (Millie) of Orlando, Fl., Mary Moore (fiancé Ryan) of Phila. Pa., Dawn M. Burns of Croydon, Pa.; In addition, Ed is survived and will be sorely missed by his 29 ¾ grandchildren and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests donations are made to The American Cancer Society in his memory. A service celebrating Ed's life will be held 4:00pm Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Simpson Funeral Home with Rev. Becky Reed officiating.
