Obituary of Madge Ellen Campbell Franklin

In the morning hours of December 1, 2012, Madge Ellen Campbell Franklin soared into the arms of her Lord and Savior. Our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother who lived 93 years, the past 50 years in Craig County, Va. Madge was born on July 31, 1919 in Ashe County, NC. She is predeceased by her husband of 74 years, Robert Franklin, Sr.; sons, Sonny and Dwight Franklin; parents, Raleigh and Matilda Campbell; brothers, Paul, Arthur, Spencer, and Zeke; sisters, Mae, Effie, Martha, Mary, and Sarah. Surviving are her daughter, Margaret F. Peters; son, Robert Franklin, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Linda Franklin; grandchildren, Gerald, Kyle, Corie and John Franklin; Stephanie Simpkins, Mike and Crystal F. Kretser, Kevin and Kris Peters, Paul Franklin, Holly and Matt Adkins; great grandchildren, Alex Franklin, Emily (Fletcher) Abbott, Robert (Emily) and Matthew Peters, Gavin Adkins, Christian Franklin, Isabella, Saraiah and Abrianna Kretser, Adam, Mallory and Reid Franklin; great great grandchildren, Allie Peters and Ezra Abbott. Madge was a charter and active member of Craig Valley Baptist Church, serving many years as a nursery and Sunday School worker. She loved to work outdoors and garden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Craig Valley Baptist Church, P.O. Box 177, New Castle, Va. 24127 in her name. The family will receive friends; Monday, December 3, 2012 from 6:00-8:00pm at Craig Valley Baptist Church in New Castle, Va. Friends may also visit at the home of Margaret Peters. A funeral service celebrating Madge's life will be held 11:00am, Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Craig Valley Baptist Church with Pastor John Graybill officiating.
