Obituary of Charlotte Anne Hitchcock Ridenhour

Charlotte Anne Hitchcock Ridenhour 86 of Roanoke left this world to go to her Heavenly Home on Saturday June 16, 2018 and to be with her beloved husband, Donald J. Ridenhour. She was also preceded by daughter Mary Carol Ridenhour, a son, Dana Richard Ridenhour, sister, Carol Drewery and a brother, Freddie Hitchcock.

 

Mrs. Ridenhour is survived by her son, Donald J. Ridenhour, II and wife Susan; grandsons, DJ Ridenhour, III and wife Shauna, Michael L. Ridenhour, Kirk Littrell; granddaughters, Kristin Myers and husband Brian, Nikki Moore Logan and husband Eric. Along with eleven great grandchildren; her brother-in-law, George W. Drewery, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and her special friends from her Sunday School Class at Enon Baptist Church.

 

Charlotte was born in Leslie, West Virginia to the late Hubert and Bertha Hitchcock on August 1, 1931 and later moved to Oak Hill, WV. After graduating High School, she came to Roanoke to attend Nurses Training at Roanoke Memorial Hospital where she met the love of her life, Don. They were married and had a child in which turned her life to another course. Charlotte had a strong faith in her Lord and used her skills as a pianist for many years as a church pianist in various churches in the Valley. Her last stint as a pianist was at the Enon Baptist Church. She had a great faith and was an inspiration to many throughout the Valley with her kind deeds and warm heart. Charlotte will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

 

The family would like to thank the wonderful people at Carilion Hospice for helping to make her journey to the next world as comfortable as possible.

 

Family asks in lieu of flowers. Donations to be made to the Roanoke Rescue Mission, 402 4th Street SE, Roanoke, Va. 24013 in Charlotte’s memory.

 

A graveside service will be 11:00am Wednesday June 20, 2018 in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton with Pastor Glenn Giles officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00pm on Tuesday June 19, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home. Condolences may be left for the family at www.simpsonfuneral.com.
