Obituary of Norris Webb Martin
Norris Webb Martin 89 of Salem passed peacefully away Saturday April 21, 2018. Norris was born April 14, 1929, to Rudolph and Lucy (Barton) Martin. Along with his parents, brothers, Lawrence, Leon and Fred; and brother-in-law, Lowell Bower, preceded him.
He was raised in the Bradshaw area of Roanoke County. Also was an active member of Masons Cove Church of the Brethren where he held many offices over the years. He was a football player at Andrew Lewis High School, a proud U.S. Navy veteran and retired from General Electric after 33 years of service. Norris was active with the W.A.R.M. project in the Salem area and a long-time volunteer, recognized for his service to Camp Bethel in Fincastle. Was a founding and lifetime member of the Fort Lewis Fire Department. Norris could always be seen helping at the fire department chicken BBQs.
Surviving are his wife, Geraldine (Gerry), of 63 years; his son, Larry (Kay) Martin, of Roanoke; his daughter, Angela Martin, of Canton, Michigan; brother, Dale (Rachel) Martin of Pikesville, NC; sister, Betty Bower of Elliston, sister-in-law, Clara Martin of Glen Allen, VA and a sister-in-law, Shirley Martin of Salem. Many loving nieces, nephews, and friends also survive him.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Lewis Gale Hospital and Dr. Richard Prokopchak for the care given to Norris.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday April 26, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. Family will receive friends Wednesday April 25, 2018 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home. Condolences may be left for the family at www.simpsonfuneral.com.
